What an implant actually replaces
A missing tooth is really two problems: the crown you can see, and the root underneath it that used to hold the jawbone's shape. An implant is a replacement for that root, set into the bone, with a crown built on top of it once it has settled in.
The office places implants using the 3i and Straumann systems, two of the more established manufacturers in the field, rather than a single house brand.

Implants are placed in-house, by the periodontist, Dr. Fara Vossughi, or the oral surgeon, Dr. Wladimir Gedeon, depending on the case. Neither is a referral out to a specialist across town; both work out of this practice alongside the general dentists.
Dr. Vossughi holds a DDS and a Master of Science in Periodontics from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, and completed a one-year residency in Implant Dentistry with honors at the Center for Implants and Esthetics and Zimmer Dental. Dr. Gedeon's own expertise covers dental implants and pre-prosthetic surgery, including soft tissue and bone grafting.
Chapter 03
When it is more than one tooth
For a fuller rebuild, the practice offers the All-on-4 and All-on-6 implant systems: a permanent bridge anchored on four or six implants rather than one per missing tooth.
An implant-retained denture is the other route to the same problem, a full upper or full lower denture that locks onto implants instead of resting on the gum alone.

Dr. Fara Vossughi, DDS, MS
Periodontist
DDS from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in 2001 and a Master of Science in Periodontics there in 2003. Her research on diabetes and periodontal disease has been published in several papers, and her Master's thesis appeared in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology in 2006. She completed a one-year residency in Implant Dentistry with honors in 2005, at the Center for Implants and Esthetics and Zimmer Dental. Before relocating to the United States, she earned her dental degree magna cum laude from the University of Frankfurt in 1996.
Dr. Wladimir Gedeon
Oral Surgeon
A Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Stony Brook University and a DDS from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, followed by training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn. He has practiced in Connecticut for the past seven years, is Past President and a member of the Greater Danbury Dental Society, and belongs to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Connecticut Magazine named him one of the state's top dentists in 2009.
